Cessna 210
Get Power and Practical Application from the Cessna 210
The name Cessna usually represents high standards and high quality in the general aviation industry. Cessna is perhaps the market leader for manufacturing and delivering aircraft in this industry, as over eight decades it has been able to release single engine aircraft, utility turboprops and light to midsize business jets. However, before they branched out into the business of jets and utility turboprops, there was a wide range of single engine aircraft on the market. One of those was the Cessna 210, which was marketed as a high-performance model from the time the very first one was created.
Originally, the earlier models of the Cessna 210 were built with four seats and included a 260 hp Continental engine. At the time, that was impressive power on an engine for a single engine aircraft, which instantly made the 210 a hit amongst pilots. Later models of this aircraft boasted six seats and even higher performance than its predecessors. Essentially, the first models of the 210 were considered upgrades to the 182B aircraft, except that they had added to them a retractable landing gear, a new wing and a swept tail.
The first Cessna 210 was flown in January 1957, and since then, over 26 model variants have been produced. By the time the fifth model was released, it was referred to as a Centurion, and there have been nine Turbo Centurions produced from that time. Specifically, these range from the Cessna 210F to the Cessna 210R, and carried much more power than the standard 210.
Production on the Cessna 210 aircraft was completed in 1985. Since that time, Cessna acquired Columbia Aircraft Company, which made models similar to the 210 models. Those aircraft, aptly called the Cessna 350 and the Cessna 400, replaced the Cessna 210 as the top end of the single engine model line.
In terms of specifications, the Cessna 210 is just as impressive as the models that it preceded. The body is 28'2" long and 9'8" high, which is pretty much standard, based on what Cessna had put out there before. When empty, it carries a weight of 2400 pounds, while its total loaded weight is approximately 4016 pounds. The Cessna 210 Centurion boasts a maximum speed of 172 knots, while it displays the ability of reaching a service ceiling of 27,000 feet. It also climbs at an impressive rate of 930 feet per minute.
Hands down, the Cessna 210 is the top of the line single engine aircraft ever manufactured by Cessna. It combined performance with appearance and practical application, hence making it one of the most sought aircraft of all time. With an aircraft like this, it is no wonder Cessna has been able to maintain their position in the general aviation aircraft manufacturing market. And all models that have come after have used this model as a standard to help guarantee quality output each time.
